Hey my name is Kyle, I am the owner of the Curb Skate Shop! I am a Connecticut local and have skated my whole life. It's been an outlet for me through some of the hardest times of my life. For the last few years I found my self working a job that was no longer fulfilling and one of the main outlets I had was skating. I would look forward to getting out of work and heading to the skatepark.

At the beginning of 2023 I stepped down from my position at that company. While I was trying to figure out what was next for me I was skating everyday.

One thing I found difficult during this time was any time I needed a new board or part I was faced with a 30+ minute drive or a trip down to the mall.

Our Story

In a conversation with a good friend the idea to open a skate shop was born. I had some retail management experience and a chunk of change saved up. I spent the next few weeks talking with friends about their experiences owning their own companies and taking the leap of faith into starting a business.

It was one of those things that I like to describe as a perfect storm in the best way possible. Everything fell into place, I found a location in The Armory Building in Manchester, down the hall from my good friends at True Penny Tattoo. I was encouraged and supported by some of the best friends and family I could ask for. From helping with everything from construction, painting, and logo designs, to getting my business legally registered and running. Needless to say none of this would have been possible without the support from these amazing people.

So that is what this shop is about- bringing people together, and supporting the community that supported me.

reviews

"Kyle was super helpful while setting me up with my first skateboard. I'll be back"

-Jess V.

"With no experience in skateboarding and in the market for my first skateboard, Kyle explained all of the parts and differences between each product when building my skateboard as well as my boyfriend's. He was very down to Earth and very patient despite causing him to be late to a prior obligation. He was so helpful. Kyle suggested great parking lots/spots to practice as a beginner. Support local businesses!"
